Collection: Human Skeleton Models
A human skeleton model is the one piece of equipment every first-year anatomy student uses daily, from the first osteology class to the viva. XBONZ makes disarticulated human skeleton models in Ahmedabad for MBBS, BDS, nursing and physiotherapy students: life-size bones you can hold, turn over and compare with your textbook.
What is a disarticulated skeleton?
A disarticulated skeleton comes as loose bones rather than a skeleton wired together on a stand. That is what osteology needs: you pick up a femur, find the head, neck and trochanters, decide which side it is from, then fit it against the hip bone at the joint. Spotters and vivas are done the same way, with a single bone in your hand. An articulated skeleton on a stand is useful for showing how the body fits together, but you cannot take a bone off it to study. Read more in disarticulated vs articulated skeleton models.
Bilateral or unilateral: which skeleton model to choose
Bilateral disarticulated human skeleton model (a full bone set). It has the left and the right of every paired bone, the bones of the midline and a skull that comes apart in three. Choose it if you want to compare a left bone with a right one while you practise side determination, or if two or three students will share one set.
Unilateral disarticulated human skeleton model (a half bone set). It has one of each paired bone, the bones of the midline and the same 3-part skull. It is the set most first-year students carry: it covers every bone you will be asked to identify, costs less than the full set and is lighter to carry between the hostel, the library and the dissection hall.
The only difference is the paired bones: one side or both. Our guide unilateral vs bilateral bone set for first-year MBBS goes through the choice in detail, and human skeleton model price in India explains what changes the price of a set.
How students use a skeleton model
- Learn each bone's landmarks with the bone in your hand, not only from diagrams.
- Practise side determination: hold the bone in the anatomical position and work out left or right.
- See how bones meet at the joints by fitting them together.
- Revise for spotters and the osteology viva, alone or with a group.
For students in the USA and UK
In the United States and the United Kingdom a disarticulated skeleton is also called a disarticulated bone set, a full or half bone set, or, in many UK medical schools, a bone box. Medical, dental, physician assistant, physical therapy, osteopathy, nursing and pre-med students use it the same way: one bone in the hand, landmarks found with a finger. Read our buying guides for a disarticulated human skeleton in the USA and an anatomy bone set in the UK.

Every bilateral and unilateral set ordered on this website includes one year of full access to the XBONZ 3D Anatomy Lab: 3D body systems, study notes and exam practice. Open it next to your bones, tap a bone on the screen, then find the same landmark on the model in your hand.

Questions students ask
Is a unilateral set enough for first-year MBBS?
For most students, yes. It has one of each paired bone and every midline bone, which covers what osteology asks you to identify. Choose the bilateral set if you want both sides to compare.
Is the skull included?
Yes. Both sets come with a 3-part skull, so the inside of the cranium is open to study.
Do you ship skeleton models to the USA and UK?
Yes. We ship to the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. Each piece is wrapped individually, orders leave our workshop in Ahmedabad within 1 to 2 working days of payment, and delivery outside India usually takes 10 to 20 working days after dispatch, depending on the destination and customs. The shipping charge is shown at checkout; any import duty or tax charged on delivery is not included.
Can I study the bones online before buying?
Yes. The 3D skeleton in the Anatomy Lab is free for everyone: rotate it, zoom in and tap any bone to see its name.
