What the free 3D skeleton shows

  • The full adult human skeleton in 3D, from the skull to the bones of the feet.
  • Tap a bone to see its name.
  • Hide a bone, isolate it on its own, or turn the rest of the skeleton see-through (X-ray) to see how it sits in the body.
  • Drag to rotate, pinch or use the buttons to zoom, and go back to the full body in one tap.

How to use it to learn the bones

  1. Start with the big picture. Rotate the whole skeleton and name the regions: skull, spine, rib cage, upper limb, pelvis, lower limb.
  2. Isolate one bone at a time. Turn it around and look at it from the front, the back and each side, the way you will see it in a lab practical.
  3. Put it back in context. Use X-ray mode to see where the bone sits and which bones it meets at the joints.
  4. Test yourself. Tap bones at random and say the name before you read it.

Who it is for

Medical, nursing, physiotherapy and pre-med students, and anyone taking an anatomy and physiology course who needs to learn the bones of the body. It works on a phone or a computer with a modern browser.
